To receive the "Esports PC Player of the Year" award, one must be a professional player who has excelled primarily on PC over the past 12 months. The award is given for both achievements and level of skill. Factors such as influencing the game's meta, building a significant fan base, or consistently outperforming opponents contribute to their recognition.

Leader of the T1 League of Legends team, Sang-hyeok "Faker" Lee, was named the best PC player of the year in esports by the Esports Awards 2023. "Faker" posted a video on "X" thanking all the fans who followed the World Championship.

In 2023, Sang-hyeok won the World Championship for League of Legends for the fourth time. The Korean has been victorious at all the Championships as part of T1. Notably, T1 was also named the best team of the year by the Esports Awards 2023. This is despite neither the team nor "Faker" being in the original list of nominees.

Furthermore, a video dedicated to the esports athlete's career by Riot Games, titled "Faker: A Decade of Excellence", received the "Esports Content of the Year" award.

The Esports Awards 2023 ceremony took place on November 29-30. The event was held in Las Vegas, USA.
