So, what is currently known about The Sims 5, and what are players expecting? We'll discuss this and more in our article.

The unveiling of the simulator's fifth edition has been heralded, intriguingly cloaked under the moniker Project Rene. What sparks curiosity, however, is the choice behind this distinctive nomenclature. Pearson shed light on this enigma while presenting at the Behind the Sims summit, suggesting that expressions such as "update" and "renaissance" are emblematic of a rejuvenated pledge to The Sims franchise. 

He further hinted at a pioneering horizon awaiting gamers within this part, a revelation that aligns with the series' tradition of ushering in fresh perspectives and innovations with each release.

There's no specific release date yet, but the game is sure to be released in just a few years, so don't rush to abandon your beloved The Sims 4. Nevertheless, the creators have promised to share all the news: research, works in progress, and behind-the-scenes moments. It's going to be very interesting!

The authors have also promised early access to the software for a specific group of people. What does this mean? It seems that the community will be able to participate in the development of the project, which is exciting.

Pearson also commented on this matter. He mentioned that the game's development process is different this time. There will be several phases where small, closed groups of participants are invited. Public testing is also planned. A large-scale early access is not ruled out.

It has been officially confirmed that gamers will be able to get the game for free. However, don't get too excited just yet: all DLCs will still be paid, so start saving your money. But still some nice features like weather, which were previously available only in paid updates, will be free in The Sims 5.

As expected, the new game will not contain all the new details. They will be added gradually, and naturally, they will come at a cost.

Official information on this topic is not yet available, but the Project Rene presentation made it clear that the game will be available on both PC and mobile devices.

At the Behind The Sims summit, they demonstrated how one could play across different platforms. For instance, furniture was arranged using a mobile device, but these changes were also displayed on a monitor.

Users will no longer be tethered to a single computer. They can finish playing on a PC, lie down on a bed, and continue the entertainment via smartphone.

Now, a few words about the gameplay. Developers have provided some correct information. There will be a focus on social context, meaning that players won't necessarily have to spend time in the game alone. For example, one might decorate an apartment together with a friend.

Some might welcome this news, while fans of solo projects might not be thrilled. But don't be too quick to despair. The authors have stated that they respect gameplay privacy. For many, gaming remains a very personal and intimate experience, so they will offer the choice to play either together or alone.

It's likely this wish will remain unfulfilled, as many have probably already seen the depiction of Sims from the new part. To be honest, it didn’t particularly thrill users.

Some long for content like that of The Sims 2. After all, it's often said that this part was made with soul and a love for the finer details.

Players also wish to create their own maps. For instance, in The Sims 2, users could create their own towns, decor, place empty lots anywhere, and build masterpieces on them, something that's not possible in the fourth part. Creating your own town is simply not feasible!
