Game designer Willem Delventhal described his point of view on Life by You, a Sims-like game from Paradox that had been in development for over four years and now cancelled.

The development of Life by You was going extremely well. The Paradox Tectonic team had an internal metric which they significantly exceeded. Delventhal mentioned that he couldn't go into detail about this metric, yet, in his opinion, the leadership was pleased.

Not so long before the planned early access release, the Life by You team received positive feedback from higher-ups. However, now we know that the release will not happen.

The creators of the game were not given a reason for the game's cancellation. The studio also requested to find potential buyers for Life by You or to make the team independent. They received no clear response.

The developers learned about the closure of Paradox Tectonic, the studio working on the game, from the company's public announcement. No one had warned the team in advance. Willem does not know what exactly went wrong or why Paradox suddenly abandoned the game.

The creators of Life by You positioned their game as an ambitious direct competitor to The Sims. The project was led by Rod Humble, a game designer known for The Sims 2.
