Unlike some other brackets, the format for the Esports World Cup League of Legends tournament is pretty straight forward. We have two best teams from China, South Korea, Europe and North America colliding in a single-elimination bracket.

Moreover, the tournament organizers decided to pair the teams from the rival regions against each other. Each half of the bracket has a match up between LPL and LCK representatives as well as a good old LEC - LCS rivalry.

On Day 1, we saw the best Chinese team, Bilibili Gaming, face the current World Champions T1 with the Unkillable Demon King and Hall of Legends member, Faker. All three maps were required to determine a winner, but in the end the South Korean team goes into the semifinal.

The other match was Team Liquid - Fnatic. They faced each other at the Mid-Season Invitational and back then Team Liquid was clearly stronger. Nothing changed since May, and the LCS representatives moves on with a clean sweep victory.

Tomorrow, we will see two other quarterfinals of a tournament with a million-dollar prize pool.
