Riot Games is looking to add one more big international competition for League of Legends in 2025. Esports journalists Alejandro Gomis and Armand Luque report that, citing their own sources.

Supposedly, the new championship will be scheduled somewhere around March-April. At least one representative from each major region will participate, though the involvement of smaller leagues is still uncertain.

The League of Legends developer likely intends to integrate this event into the existing event system. For quite some time the whole esports ecosystem lived around two splits and Mid-Season Invitational as the intermediate stop plus the culmination of the season in Worlds.

Rumors suggest that regional leagues have already begun preparing for possible updates. For example, the LCS will transition to a system of three splits, like their European colleagues do, but the exact format changes for the competitions in China and South Korea so their representatives qualify for this brand new event, remain unknown.

Representatives from Riot Games have indicated that they will reveal changes to the League of Legends esports scene for the upcoming year in June.
