The Esports World Cup brings life-changing money, and teams are looking for every opportunity to increase their chances of winning club championship. One of the esports powerhouses, Virtus.pro, announced that it would join the sim racing scene and take part in the ESL R1 league.

This league will have its finals as part of the Esports World Cup in Riyadh this summer. The prize pool of the competition is $500,000, and it will also provide points to the $20,000,000 club championship. That's why we see some teams enter the league even though VP had zero prior histories with the sim racing scene.

As of now, the club has yet to announce its full roster of four people, although it won't take long as the ESL R1 league starts on May 17. Last season, there were some well-known esports names like FaZe Clan, Heroic, G2 Esports, MOUZ and FURIA. However, the winner of the team competition was R8G Racing, founded by the former Formula-1 driver Romain Grosjean.
