Days Gone game director, Jeff Ross, who left Bend Studio in 2020, shared on social media the approximate cost of the studio's next title.

Ross writes that Sony has already spent at least $250 million on the game. He did not specify where he got this information, and he apparently does not have any other details about the game.

To the game director, this figure seems "crazy," especially considering that the publisher did not want to develop a sequel to Days Gone, which, according to Ross, would have had a budget of $150 million—a similar budget to the first game.

In another post, Ross noted that Sony executives, including the new head of PlayStation, Hermen Hulst, were never fans of Days Gone.

Ross remains confident that the action game will not receive a sequel. One of the reasons he cited is PlayStation's portfolio: the company already has a more successful series about zombie-like creatures (The Last of Us).

If Ross's information is accurate, the production of Bend Studio's new title has cost Sony more than, for example, God of War Ragnarök ($200 million).

There are no specific details about Bend Studio's next game, but in March, the studio opened a project manager position. In 2022, it also noted that it was working on a multiplayer title and developing the open-world systems from Days Gone.
