Ex-President Blizzard Entertainment president Mike Ybarra believes that gamers should be able to tip developers for games that they really enjoy. The idea of additional monetary rewards was floated on social media on April 11, but the post went viral several days later.

According to Ybarra, single-player games like Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War, Red Dead Redemption 2, Baldur's Gate 3, and Elden Ring are all so good that upon completion, he wanted to reward the creators for their work and enjoyment. The former Blizzard boss would like to see a screen after the credits roll that would allow users to send money to show their appreciation for the experience. Mike framed his idea as a gamer who plays single-player titles and thinks about rewarding the creators.

In comments, other gamers suggested an alternative idea, like buying a copy of the game for a friend, which is a way to pay twice and help spread the word about the project. The former executive agreed with the sentiment.

There are other viewpoints, like the idea that companies should just pay their developers more, which Mike did not comment on.
