Ubisoft is on the verge of unveiling a refreshed version of the 2003 cult favorite, Beyond Good and Evil. The game's receipt of a "12+" age rating in South Korea on February 16 has led journalists to speculate about a soon-to-be-announced release.

Ubisoft had previously hinted at the release of the Beyond Good and Evil 20th Anniversary Edition in early 2024, but the exact date is still under wraps. Notable gaming insider, Tom Henderson, has predicted a March 5th release. Ubisoft, however, remains tight-lipped, neither confirming nor denying these rumors.

Beyond Good and Evil 2Image: youtube.com Trailer 2017The rejuvenated Beyond Good and Evil promises a host of upgrades. Gamers can look forward to 4K resolution and 60 FPS support, superior graphics, controls, and sound, a sophisticated autosave system, a mode tailored for speedrunners, and a gallery packed with bonus content. Gameplay screenshots leaked in late 2023, demonstrating a modernized look for the game, but Ubisoft was quick to point out that these "do not represent the final game version".

Beyond Good and Evil is a genre-melding game, weaving together elements of stealth, action, puzzles, and exploration. The plot revolves around journalist Jade and her companion Pey'j as they unravel a plot by the malevolent DomZ organization that has seized their planet. Despite critical acclaim and numerous award nominations, it didn't quite hit the mark commercially. A sequel was announced by Ubisoft in 2017, but further details have been sparse.
