When the new Dota 2 patch strikes, one of the most vulnerable categories are professional players. Update 7.36 went live during the Season 23 of the DreamLeague, and teams that got into playoffs, will play based on intuition and not on preparation.

But let's look at the group stage results first. Twelve teams, two groups, round-robin. Top-2 teams of each group go into the upper bracket, the third and fourth places go to the lower bracket, bottom two are eliminated. This format is classic, with all its pros and cons.

Four teams look stronger than the rest, as Team Falcons, Gaimin Gladiators, Xtreme Gaming and Tundra Esports breezed into the upper bracket. The battle for the lower bracket was much more fierce. You could stay in the tournament with the stat of 4-6, but for one team even that was not enough. Team Liquid lost the tie breaker match to Heroic and was eliminated.

The European squad was joined by PSG Quest, Shopify Rebellion and Natus Vincere, as all of these teams struggled to earn valuable wins.

The playoffs of the Dream League will be random as all teams will have to adapt to 7.36, so it will be interesting to watch the games live.
