The road to The International starts today! Valve announced its invites to the Dota 2 World Championship. This year, the developer decided to directly invite six teams. Here is the list:

All of these invites are fully deserved as these six teams stood out the most compared to the others. Also, we can't say that any team was robbed of an invite. Basically, the two requirements were to keep the roster intact throughout the season and play in at least one grand final of the tier-1 tournament.

What's more important is that Valve also published the details of qualifiers. And they will start… next week! From Monday, June 3, to Saturday, June 8, all regions will have open qualifiers. After that, we will have regional qualifiers on June 9-23. Eastern Europe and North America will receive one slot at The International; the rest of the regions will send two teams.

The International itself will occur this September in the capital of Denmark, Copenhagen.
