This season in Dota 2 can be called experimental after Valve decided to cancel Dota Pro Circuit. Instead, we have the Esports World Cup that boasts a $5,000,000 prize pool and is likely to have a significant impact on The International invites. However, the ESL Pro Tour system is not the only thing happening on professional Dota 2 scene.

Last week, we saw PGL Wallachia, a sixteen-teams tournament with a million dollars on the line  It is also worth remembering that PGL is a long partner of Valve but even if we leave that aside, for many teams it is a great opportunity to practice.

And that leads us to the results of the tournament. Two-time world champions Team Spirit were not stable in their performance, and that was no different in Bucharest. The Dragons had an impressive lower-bracket run to dethrone Xtreme Gaming who prior to the grand finals did not lose a single map. The main event of the tournament was a full five-map intense series where both teams had a chance to lift a trophy. Yet Team Spirit was stronger.
