If we speak about one genre of video games that makes a lot of impact in mainstream culture, that would be the fighting games. They are easy to understand, and, usually, the characters have some memorable appearance and personality.

There are many references to fighting games, especially in the music, and last week, we got one more great example. Grammy-winning rapper Megan Thee Stallion published her new music video BOA. The song itself uses samples from Gwen Stefani's "What You're Waiting for?" but we want to have a look at the video.

The plot of the video is three people gain access to the video game from urban legends that kill people if they lose. With such an idea, it is unsurprising that we see many video game references. However, one that stands out the most is one of the outfits.

When Megan Thee Stallion is a character in a fighting game, she is dressed like Christie Monteiro, a Tekken character who specializes in capoeira. The rapper posted Christie's picture on her Instagram, so there is zero doubt about that reference.
