According to The Hollywood Reporter, the famous life simulation series The Sims is set to receive a film adaptation. The movie will be directed by Kate Herron, known for the first season of "Loki". She will also co-write the screenplay with Briony Redman, known for "Doctor Who".

Among the producers of the film is LuckyChap, managed by Margot Robbie, Tom Ackerley, Josie McNamara, and Sophia Kerr, who previously worked on the buzzworthy "Barbie" movie. They will be assisted by Roy Lee and Miri Yoon from Vertigo Entertainment, as well as the game’s publisher, EA. Details of the adaptation are still unknown, and the cast has not been confirmed. Sources from Variety report that production is still in the early stages.

Jokes have already emerged suggesting that the main character of the movie will have to buy expensive DLCs, spend 30 hours building a house, and then quit the game out of boredom and uncertainty about what to do next:

Fans of the series have also recalled memes from their gaming experience:

Currently, Maxis studio is developing the fifth installment of The Sims under the codename Project Rene. It will be free-to-play, with only DLCs and catalogs requiring purchase.
