The ultimate ability of Chaos Knight became significantly more expensive. The mana cost for Phantasm increased from 75/125/175 to 100/200/300. Additionally, CK's base damage was reduced by 5, but the vampirism from creeps was enhanced from 40% to 70%.

Kunkka suffered even more substantial changes. The delayed damage of Ghostship was reduced from 45% to 35%, the damage of Tidal Wave was cut from 250 to 180, and the duration of Torrent Storm changed from 5 to 4 seconds, with its cooldown increased from 70 to 75 seconds.

Life became notably harder for Bristleback. The maximum damage from Quill Spray was reduced by 50 to 500. Moreover, the level 20 talent was adjusted: the bonus to additional damage from Quill Spray was decreased from 25 to 20. The damage threshold for Bristleback was increased from 225 to 300/275/250/225. The range of Hairball was reduced from 1500 to 1000, and its cooldown was increased from 10 to 13 seconds.

In the item changes, the further weakening of Heart of Tarrasque is notable. Its strength bonus was reduced from 40 to 35, while the item's cost increased by 100 gold - the recipe price is now 1400.

Eternal Shroud received an increased bonus to magic resistance, now offering 35% instead of 30%.

As expected, the developers did not significantly change the gameplay, only updating the characteristics of specific characters. The most affected were the most popular heroes of the last World Championship: Spirit Breaker, Chaos Knight, Treant Protector, Kunkka, and Bristleback now have longer ability cooldowns and deal less damage than before.

Moreover, Valve weakened some items. For instance, the very popular Hand of Midas now has a ten-second longer cooldown, and Heart of Tarrasque is 100 gold more expensive and offers five less strength.

Obviously, the update is a preparation for the qualifiers for The International 2023, which will take place online from August 17 to 31.

It's also worth noting that Valve has shared what update we can expect in the near future. The company promises to soon add a new mode "Winterfest" and Arcana items.

We'll show our hand: the event to which the Arcana items are tied has developed so many new details that we are still working on them, and we plan to release them in the first months of next year. And that's not to mention other updates we've planned for the new year.

Not all players were pleased with it. Some gamers criticized the updates. However, some players were quite satisfied with the updates.
