Ermac will be the next hero in Mortal Kombat 1. Today, Netherrealm and Warner Bros. Games released the newest trailer.

Alongside Ermac, a new Kameo character will also join the game. We will see Mavado for the first time since Mortal Kombat X, in which he had a cameo. Technically, he has a cameo in Mortal Kombat 1 as well, but Kameo fighters are different now.

As for Ermac, Ed Boon wrote a long story explaining how this character got into the franchise. It is a manifestation of players' curiosity and beliefs in different urban legends. In the very first Mortal Kombat game, ERMAC stood for "Error Macro", which was a counter that showed how many times games executed pieces of code they should have never executed.

This number appeared after players fought Reptile, the hidden Mortal Kombat character. Players believed that Ermac was also a secret character, leading to some sort of myth. While Reptile appeared as a playable character in Mortal Kombat 2, some players were still eager to play this unknown character, Ermac. But later, it manifested in the form of a red ninja from the Outworld. Now, Ermac is back in Mortal Kombat 1.
