Corporate Vice President of Xbox Emerging Technologies division, Karim Choudhry, has left Microsoft after 26 years of service. This was reported by Windows Central, citing an internal communication from management.

Choudhry was responsible for some of Xbox's most advanced projects, including the backward compatibility technology for Series X|S and the Xbox Cloud Gaming platform. He also led the XEmTech division, which focuses on machine learning and artificial intelligence projects, such as the Xbox AI chatbot tool. Choudhry's former team will be transferred to the general hardware division of Xbox, led by Roanne Sones.

These personnel changes at Microsoft come as the company announced an updated strategy for its gaming division, with an increased focus on releasing multi-platform games.

Choudhry's departure from Microsoft follows several months after significant leadership reshuffles within the company. In October 2023, it was announced that Matt Booty was promoted to President of Gaming Content and Studios, and Sarah Bond was promoted to President of Xbox.
