Markus Persson, better known by his alias Notch and renowned for creating the iconic game Minecraft, has announced the launch of his new game development company, Bitshift Entertainment. Although he revealed the studio's logo, details about the size of the workforce remain undisclosed. It is worth noting that Bitshift Entertainment is not Persson's first foray into establishing gaming studios. Back in 2009, he founded Mojang, the company that brought Minecraft to the world. In 2014, Microsoft acquired Mojang for an impressive sum of $2.5 billion.

Following this, the game designer attempted to launch another project called Rubberbrain, but unfortunately, this studio never released a single game.

However, initial screenshots of the game have surfaced online, providing a glimpse into its concept and gameplay. According to the developers, it will be a voxel-based roguelike with elements of a looter-shooter, a first-person perspective, and a role-playing system based on D20 rules. Persson compares the upcoming game to the Borderlands series, but instead of firearms and shields, players will wield swords and protective cloaks.

The project is in its early stages of development, and Persson admitted that certain game elements, particularly monster models, were borrowed from modifications for the classic shooter Doom. The absence of an artist on the team was cited as the reason behind this, preventing the developer from creating all the necessary assets independently. Despite this, fans of Persson's work eagerly await further news about Bitshift Entertainment's enigmatic project.
