The aim assist in The Finals, which aids in aiming with a controller, has become a point of contention among players. Now, many cross-platform users are unhappy with the ease and accuracy with which the cursor automatically targets enemies. Console users and players with controllers seem to gain too much advantage.

The issue began with a Reddit user by the name of "GOTTA_BE_FR3SH", who highlighted a critical problem with the aiming mechanism. The player posted a video showing that even when moving away from a target, the crosshair still returns to it. For clarity, the user specified that they were using a controller.

As a result, many players, including console users, have advocated for creating matches based on input method. However, this approach has several drawbacks, such as the inability to join games with friends or use a controller on a PC instead of a console.

In the latter case, the problem arises that such devices are hard to detect, so cheaters will likely exploit this. Considering that The Finals is already suffering from the number of cheaters, this only adds to the players' frustration.

Another issue is that aim assist negates the in-game tool Cloaking Device, which makes the player invisible. Now all builds relying on this unique feature become useless.

The developers of The Finals have heard the community's concerns and haven't ignored the problem. It seems they will find a balanced solution and fix Aim-assist, rather than completely removing it from the game. Otherwise, it would be unfair to players using controllers.
