The new loot chest system in the popular MOBA game League of Legends has sparked a wave of criticism from the gaming community. These items are an important part of the gameplay, as they grant players various bonuses.

League of Legends chestsImage: EnsiplayAccording to one Reddit user's calculations, to obtain all the new chests in a season, players would need to play around 1,125 matches annually. Previously, only about 324 games per year were required for the maximum reward. The new conditions are much more demanding, especially for those who prefer to focus on just a few champions.

Also, the new system will hit ARAM players and OTP/mainers of champions very hard. Previously, mainers could play their champion, then sometimes switch to others (for example, with friends or in ARAM), get their chest in 1-6 games and play their favorite champion again.

Riot Games attempted to motivate players to spend more time in the game. However, some found these requirements excessive and too time-consuming, even for the most dedicated MOBA fans.

It remains unclear whether developers will listen to community feedback and make adjustments to the chest system. Many players want a better balance between incentivizing activity and respecting their personal time.
