The developers of Hades 2 have left the game's code open source to make it easier to create mods.

The player community faces no restrictions on creating content. The entire source code can be viewed in the game files. The roguelike's programmers did not restrict access to it. This was noticed by Jason Hall, developer of Heartbound and former Blizzard security specialist.

According to Hall, Supergiant Games has made the most mod-friendly game in the world. He noted that the code is not only open but also written in Lua — a lightweight language that makes creating mods very easy.

All of the developers' comments are also available for reading, allowing users to delve deeper into the game's creation process. On the Hades 2 subreddit, fans also took notice of this find and stated that the original Hades had a similar situation.

In 2020, Supergiant Games developers answered fan questions on Discord and explained that they do not intend to hide any data. Hades players can modify all numbers and text in the code, as well as add new content.
