After almost four years of absence, Cloud9 returns to the Rocket League competitive scene. The American club has acquired the Omelette squad and signed RLCS caster herculyse as the content creator.

The Omelette roster, consisting of Zineel, percy and LionBlaze is currently twelfth in the RLCS North America ratings. It is currently far from the top-4, which will receive invitations to the RLCS 2024 World Championship. Meanwhile, herculyse announced that she had signed a two-year contract.

So what does that mean? Several years ago, Jack Etienne, the CEO of Cloud9, stated that the club would be back once there would be a more team-friendly environment. From the outsider's point of view, there have not been that many changes over the last four years. However, Rocket League will be a part of the Esports World Cup, which has a $20M prize pool for clubs.

It is possible that Cloud9 signed a cheap roster to be represented in the Rocket League and potentially earn valuable points in the ESWC 2024 Club Championship. However, if this roster does not achieve great results, some better players may be signed later when a good opportunity comes. If that's the case, Cloud9 has a very pragmatic approach to the game, but only time will tell if it will bring its dividends.
