The Esports World Cup will be the biggest event of the summer. One of the main games which will be featured in Riyadh is Counter-Strike 2. Today, tournament organisers announced the list of nine teams that received a direct invite to the tournament.

We already knew that Team Spirit and Natus Vincere would be there as the winners of IEM Katowice and PGL Major Copenhagen, respectively. Seven more teams received their invites based on the strength of the roster, media power and status in the global and regional Counter-Strike scenes.

Who got invited to the Esports World Cup?

Six more slots will be allocated to the winners of regional qualifiers across the globe; however, in total, that makes only 15 teams. Either the sixteenth team will be a wild card, or the Esports World Cup will feature an unorthodox tournament forward. We're yet to hear more details about that.
