New boss and location: what's added in the Escape from Tarkov update

Yesterday, a major update was released for Escape from Tarkov. With the release of the patch, the game underwent a traditional reset of previous player progress, forcing players to continue suffering, but also to keep playing the shooter. Many interesting innovations were added. Let's take a look at them.

New Location: Ground Zero

The location is intended for new players from level 1 to 20. Higher-level PMCs (20+) will not be able to access the location. Scavs will have unlimited access to the location regardless of level. The location has been added with starter quests and visual cues for new players.

New Boss: Kollontay

He is a former officer of the MVD (Ministry of Internal Affairs). He resides in the area around Klimov Shopping Mall and the Tarkov Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Kaban’s New Guards

Boss Kaban is accompanied by his closest associates, Basmach and Gus. They are always near Kaban and engage in combat for him. They prefer their own clothing to combat gear, although there are exceptions. Basmach is particularly fond of machetes, and Gus of crowbars.

Shoreline Rework

A significant part of the landscape has been visually reworked, with a new area added - a small livestock farm. Lighting sources have been updated, most of the location has been optimized, the cooling system completely revamped, and the boundaries of the location changed: the concrete fence has been replaced with minefields and snipers in most places.

New Weapons, Equipment, Loot

A number of new items, weapon modifications, equipment, and customization options have been added.

The models and animations for the Simonov SKS 7.62x39 carbine have been updated.
